New Exhibition Presenting Ringo Starr's Photographs

This spring marks five years since the publication of PHOTOGRAPH by Ringo Starr, the fastest-selling book Genesis has published, and the PHOTOGRAPH Portfolio 2013. The Portfolio introduced Ringo’s photographs as a series of museum-quality prints that were exhibited worldwide from Sydney to Los Angeles.

Now, Genesis is opening its doors to present the entire collection in full, marking the official unveiling of the PHOTOGRAPH Portfolio 2018. Visitors will see the prints displayed together for the first time, and be able to acquire rarities from previous years, as well as discovering Ringo’s latest photography. Only one or two copy numbers remain available from Ringo’s early editions, offering a last chance to obtain highly collectible artworks.

This show will open at Genesis House in February 2018.The exhibit will be open to view by appointment, weekdays from Monday February 5th onwards.

RINGO TO HIT TEL AVIV IN JUNE

By Posted on 0 24

Ringo formally announced he is to perform in Israel on June 23 at Tel Aviv’s Menora Mivtachim arena.

Ringo will perform with his All Starr band, as part of a 21-date European tour in support of his latest album “Give More Love,” which was released in September, 2017.
“The dream is still unfolding,” Ringo said in October. “I love to play, and I love to play with this band. I can’t say that enough, and we’re on the road again”.
His band for this tour will include Colin Hay (vocals, ex-Men at Work), Graham Gouldman (His band for this tour will include Colin Hay (vocals, ex-Men at Work), Graham Gouldman (bass, ex-10CC), Steve Lukather (guitar, ex-Toto), Gregg Rolie (keyboards, ex-Santana), Warren Ham (saxophone) and Gregg Bissonette (drums, ex-David Lee Roth band).
Although his website also lists another Tel Aviv concert the next day, on June 24, the promoter has so far only confirmed one performance.

Famously the Israeli government refused to allow the Beatles to perform in the country in 1965, “for fear that the performances by the Beatles are liable to have a negative influence on the youth.”
After the promoter appealed, the government committee launched an investigation, and found “the band has no artistic merit” and its performances “cause hysteria and mass disorder among young people.”
Ringo has never performed in Israel before, though fellow Paul performed in Yarkon Park in 2008.

RINGO TAPPED AS BRITISH KNIGHT

By Posted on 0 24

Britain’s Cabinet Office publishes a list of the people receiving honors for merit, service or bravery twice a year: just before New Year’s Eve, and on the Saturday in June when Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday is officially observed.

The New Year’s Honors List made public late Friday revealed that Beatles drummer Ringo Starr have been tapped as knights.

These are four of the people picked to receive knighthoods in 2018: Ringo Starr , Barry Gibb, Michael Morpurgo (author) and former British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.
The process starts with nominations from the public, which first are reviewed by a specialist committee and then by a main honors committee. The nominations are then sent to the prime minister before the various honors are bestowed by the queen or senior royals.

“It’s great!” Ringo said of his knighthood in a brief message Friday. “It’s an honor and a pleasure to be considered and acknowledged for my music and my charity work, both of which I love. Peace and love. Ringo.”

The knighthood will allow Ringo, 77, to join Paul McCartney as 1960s rock royalty honored by the queen.
