Chapman, 65, was denied parole on Wednesday for the 11th time. He was jailed in 1980 for shooting Lennon outside The Dakota on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
In 2018, he told the parole board he’d found Jesus and was ashamed of himself. He said he was willing to be in jail for as long as it took.
Yoko Ono has argued against his release in the past, saying he is a danger to her and to her son with Lennon
The parole board, in 2018, he said was at risk of harm if he was released. Details of Wednesday’s hearing have not yet emerged, aside from the fact he was turned down for release. He remains in custody in the Wende Correctional Facility near Buffalo, New York.He works as an administrative clerk and is only allowed out of his cell for three hours a day.
Chapman will next be eligible for parole in 2022.
