By Posted on 0 5

The statue, located on Stanley Street, was spotted missing multiple elements ,It isn’t the first time parts have gone missing.
The tribute was designed and made by Tommy Steele in 1982 and stands as a tribute to the hit Beatles song of the same name, which tells the story of a lonely woman, Eleanor Rigby.
The Eleanor Rigby statue consists of a bronze figure on a stone bench reading a newspaper with a shopping bag on her right.
The bronze copy of the newspaper, which forms part of the statue, is currently missing from the bench.
The inscribed plaque behind the statue, which dedicates the work to the city, is also missing.
The plaque behind the statue has been stolen previously and this would not be the first time the iconic landmark has been vandalised.
The City Council is aware of the missing parts of the statue.
The statue is maintained by the council.
