Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band and concluded their 2019 tour on Sunday night (September 1) at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, nearly 30 years to the day when the inaugural All Starrs completed their first tour on September 3, 1989. For the final number, “With a Little Help From My Friends,” Starr was joined onstage by many fellow classic rock stars.
The 2019 edition of the band featured Toto’s Steve Lukather, Men at Work’s Colin Hay, Santana and Journey’s Gregg Rolie, Warren Ham, Gregg Bissonette and Hamish Stuart. They were joined for the finale by such friends as Joe Walsh and Nils Lofgren (who were part of the original All Starr Band), plus Jim Keltner, Edgar Winter, Richard Page and Eric Carmen.
A first leg began on March 21 with one U.S. show in Southern California before the band headed to Japan for a number of shows. The summer tour ran through August, concluding with the Greek Theatre performance.
Ringo has been spending time in the recording studio this year. Details about a new album are forthcoming. November will also see Ringo honored when he receives the Humanitarian Award from the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF on “Giving Tuesday,” Nov. 27, 2019, at their annual Snowflake Ball in New York City.
